A Guide to Using Mobile Devices for Inquiry Learning
As Elementary as Possible!
Mobile learning environments, such as the combination of the iPad with cloud-computing services, provide an orchestra of possibilities for Inquiry-based learning.
Within one device students can conduct research, record interviews, gather data, take notes, document events, collaborate with peers, create multimedia projects and communicate their findings. Mobile technology is like a traveling library, research lab and film studio compressed together.
The objective of this web site to to match App resources that will assist a wide variety of inquiry based learning models. Rather than adopt one fixed system for inquiry, the stages described in this site are a generic synthesis of steps used across a range of methods currently in publication. Each section contains App suggestions educators will find useful for designing inquiry questions, identifying problems, orchestrating project plans, integrating of assessment, assisting with the management and location of research materials, creating multimedia projects, and connecting with an audience. The possibilities are immense and continue to evolve with each new update.
