What is PLANNING?
_The next stage of inquiry learning is what we call "Planning."
It is MOST IMPORTANT to remember that during the "climb" students should feel the freedom to move back and forth to any stage for re-direction from the teacher and peers. It would be during this "Planning" stage that student group leaders are voted for or chosen by the teacher.
Based on questions from the "Wondering" stage, students begin to map out ideas. They begin to focus on the goal of the project - and reaching the top of their "mountain as a team. A great visual for students at this stage is the "treasure map" - eye on the prize! They reach the point of "What do I need to know?" and "Where or how can I find it?"

Planning Mini-Lessons
Resources for teachers to help facilitate and avoid "closed trails" on the students' mountain adventure. It is within this stage that the teacher has the opportunity to offer advice to students on "How to Make Group Decisions," "Establishing Roles," and "Responsibilities for Group Members."

Planning and Mind-Mapping Apps
_Apps that help students organize and map out ideas is a great way for
students to plan projects and guide research. Locating a mind mapping
app that use a simple and intuitive interface is crucial. Also important is the import/export of items made in the mind-mapping apps for use by all group members.
